- Something may complicate the bank assignments: there are not only 128 banks,
- but 1024 banks (or so i'm told). But i'm not 100% sure and if it's the case
- i dont see how you can have that many banks selected thru controller 0 since
- it is a midi controller and the value is probably 1 byte with parity which
- means 128 values... In any case this should be cleared soon, when the drivers
- come out. For now, except for bank 8 people seem to say "assignment as the
- patches come out"...

- Hi GUSicians.
-
- I posted this to the other digest, but it's probably more relevant
- to the _high_fidelity_ group :).
- Many of you who recently received texts on ground-loop-isolators,
- dram, or volume-control requested I put these things in the FAQ.
- I have not read the FAQ since February, nor do I know who maintains
- it. If some kind in-the-know would enlighten me, I will get right
- on it. It would be nice to receive some feedback on the texts, as
- I would like all information to be as consise, accurate and relevant
- as possible before FAQ consideration. In the meantime, I will ftp
- the latest FAQ from epas (at 2400baud!!!) to do some catching up.
- For newcomers, I currently have a manual volume control text which
- shows you how to use your old speakers with the GUS *and* not blow
- your head off, *:-) a ground-loop-isolator text which shows you how
- to realize the GUS's awesome signal-to-noise ratio on your stereo,
- and a newer text on drams upgrade for your GUS (what, where, why,
- how, how much). At Phat Tran's suggestion, I will include info on
- power consumption considerations of drams; I should have a revised
- dram text by Sunday (sorry for the delay). BTW, my apologies to those
- who received several or wrong texts! I'll blame the local mailserv...

- So I would have thought. But why does Modedit sound so bad when playing
- mod/samples? You have to run SBOS to get it to play but I don't know why you get
- such poor D-A quality, is it to do with the quality of mixing modedit does?

- Subject: New Pianos
-
- I found the envelopes in piano2.pat still a little too "dry", and I also
- didn't like the way notes are resurrected at note off, so I edited the
- envelopes a little to give the piano a little more warmth, and to remove
- the note resurrection. I've uploaded to Epas piano2a.pat and piano2b.pat.
- The b version has shorter sustain and decay for occasions where the ample
- "reverb" effect of piano2a may muddle up the music. Tell me what you
- think.
-
- As a side note, the samples in piano*.pat seem to be very hard key hits.
- The way they sound, I would think that they are the loud layer of a
- velocity-switching patch.

-
- I use piano20 with winjammer and for all intents and purposes it works
- beautifully, except, i check and instrument, then record it with winjammer,
- play it back, it comes out cool, then the next time i try to record i
- no longer hear anything, i have to check and uncheck the local echo in
- piano to re-hear the sounds, umm anyone know of a setup to fix this?
-
- otherwise, cool program!

-
- Those who are trying to get Piano20 to work with Power Chords - don't
- spend any time on it just yet...
-
- I've been in contact with the author and have determined an incompatibility
- between the Power Chords code and the piano program. However, we will be able
- to resolve the trouble easily, although it is not yet decided who will make
- changes.
-
- Anyway, there will either be a Power Chords fix in the future, or a new
- version of the piano program very shortly to allow it to work with Power
- Chords.
-
- Great program, Gregor!

-
- Not really. True, they can't both use the Midi Mapper, but the
- Piano doesn't really need the Midi Mapper when used with other
- sequencing programs. Although it can't send MIDI messages
- directly to Midi Mapper, they are still sent to the Piano
- Driver. The driver then transmits them to the Session, and the
- Session forwards them to the Midi Mapper.
- The only thing is that the Piano won't be able to do patch
- caching, that means you will have to select an instrument in the
- Session BEFORE you push the record button.
-
- One more thing: Start the Session Manager before the Piano, just
- to make sure the Session gets the Midi Mapper first.
-
-

-
- I've fixed the bug and the Piano works perfectly fine with
- Cakewalk, but is still having some problems with the Power Chords,
- I'll release the new version as soon as I fix this.

- Ok, the last bug has been fixed; Piano and Power Chords now
- understend each other. (Thanks Eric)

- Since there are no more reasons for delaying the release of
- Piano 2.1 any further, I am happy to say that
